That reminds me of an old Dennis The Menace strip. Dennis is watching the evening news. The headline on the screen warns of a poor wheat crop. Dennis laments as to why nothing bad ever happens to the carrot crop.

Yeah, the candy bars are half the size and double the price!

It’s called – progress!! Half the “fun” at twice the cost of it!!

Broccoli is pretty good, raw with a tasty dip.

I seem to remember one of the Bush presidents not liking broccoli.

Hey, wait a minute. I like Broccoli. It’s really good with steak.

Because broccoli is good for you – candy bars, not so much.

Just tell him broccoli is just downsized trees. Still good, but you have to watch out for the downsized squirrels.

That is a curiosity of the times. Rather than raise the price to cover their added expenses, the manufacturers reduce the size of the candy or other confections. About the same time, fast food outlets like to supersize their portions for a small added price. How often have we not gotten the supersize drink or fries? And, like with candy, other staples have been reduced. Sugar is often reduced to four pounds instead of five; or, ground coffee is 32.5 ounces instead of 36.

This is not new. I remember when I was a kid and candy bars size were cut in half, but still cost the same (10¢ – it was a while ago)

The latest thing I’ve noticed is my toothpaste apparently has a designed air pocket inside… Sheesh!

When you acquire adult tastes you’ll be glad they didn’t downsize broccoli.

If only we could downsize so-called reality shows to, say, none at all.

That is the trend, nowadays… Downsizing everything but doubling them in price!

The latest is liquid Tide is now 92 oz. instead of 100. So I’ll fool them! I use just a bit less in every load of clothes from now on.

I agree with you kid, broccoli is the food of the Devil. I know, Rev. Billy C. Wirtz told me so.

Smaller portions at double the price and yet my waist size up 6 inches. ye gads…..go figure

Candy bars during my youth were twice the size and one twentieth of the price of bars today. Broccoli downsizing sounds great to me too …

They even downsized my paycheck

Downsize the candy bar, upsize the price. I miss the days when fast food was worth the price, and it was hot and fresh.
