All except Spud however. He obviously thinks the tide will come in instead of out. Plus being stuck out there, his claustrophobia is raging.

Chaucer was right, time and tide wait for no one. But when you’re stuck on a rock, you may be waiting some time for the tide.

Rose IS enjoying her time with everyone. Explaining the vagaries of English is fun! Did you know that hundred used to refer to 6*20 as the value 120? And that “thousand” used to be “many hundreds, or a large number?” And that “million” was effectively “the value closer to one thousand, or a VERY large number?” “Dozen” was formed from “duo” (2) and “decem” (10), so that “dozen” meant “twelve things” and that a “baker’s dozen” proved that bakers can’t count.

Maybe Rose grows up to be a letter carrier. And everybody knows her name.

I think we all know somebody like Rose, in that we can recognise that expression in panel 3 from a mile off (and thus, have a mile to get clear of them).

When stuck on the sandbar wait for the tide to refloat your boat…when stuck in the Suez Canal, where there are no tides and your ship is 1200 feet long hope your insurance carrier can pay the bills for the 150 ships stuck behind you with time sensitive cargo on board.

How did they not notice the tide coming IN? Not like their temporary safe haven is too big to not see.

Glad to see Will Henry properly spelled “per se”, and not as “per say” as I’ve seen it mistakenly done.

There is a big rock at Fogerty Beach in Oregon that the CG has to go out to and rescue people from a couple of times a year.

    Get a Tide Table people!
