This story line is lame. Hate to say it, but the artists seem to have run out of fresh ideas. How about bringing back Upton O. Goode and Ramona Lisa? Or another story from the Old Comics’ Home?
I’ve long felt that the best way to allow Walt to pass at last, but still keep him in the strip, would be to just periodically set the time in the past with new story lines based on other things that might have happened in his life that weren’t covered back in the day.Deceased characters could then be brought back with new story lines. That way, we would never really loose him.
Phyllis was not a part of the story when Skeezix was a newborn. When he mentions “all of those others,” he’s probably talking about Avery, Doc, and Bill and their wives.
“Who charms the crabs on Fisherman’s Wharf right out of their shells? Who lights the lights of Chinatown just by walking in view? Who? Phyllis! Phyllis! Phyllis! It sure isn’t you!”
This is why Mommy’s need to stay home with their children and not allow other people raise them. Or worse, leaving them to raise themselves to talk like Sharkie Fish because the 2 year old is glued to his cellphone and can’t handle life without Sharkey. AHH!!

“Leave the cat with the Widder”, he said. “It’ll be convenient”, he said. “And she LOVES cats”, he said.
This is another nice mess Joel has got Rufus into, 51 years ago today in the Alley:

If I remember the strip’s history, Walt wasn’t married to Phyllis when he first adopted Skeezix?

After trying Pesky’s new leg-paint concoction, the other girls are positively green when they see the million-dollar gams of our Starr reporter.

Yesterday Skeezix was a baby who shouldn’t have been able to talk. Today he’s a toddler.
