I have my “core” collection and way too many others. And yes, I do have two copies of my favorite book just in case I need to lend it to someone. Actually, I give it and then buy another copy.
These are all the things you cannot do with e-books. When I pick up a book I have read, the texture of the cover, the heft of the volume and even the faint odor of paper bring forth a gestalt of memory before I even open it again and read, as I will often do.

after years of lugging them from place to place i finally sent them to a non-profit that handles used books – hope other folks enjoy them as much as i did…
