I would love to know how, when, and why all the “Personnel Departments” in the world turned into the demeaning title of “Human Resources Department”.
At least they are still making the distinction.
The abbreviation “HR” is also used a lot and may seem more benign – - until one realizes that, to Catbert and his ilk, HR stands for “Human Refuse” – -
Why is their door smaller?
That department title always made be feel really valued – right up there with coal, electricity and water.
Those two doors lead into the same office, if that tells you anything…
It’s probably wisest, from a business perspective, to place those two offices side-by-side. Duplicative functions can be performed by fewer FTEs.
