Shirley is a conscientious mom. This strip is from 2003. The chickenpox vaccine was available then … and mandatory in schools in most states — all states today. Such a change from when I was Louis’ age. Most of us suffered through mumps, measles, and/or chickenpox. I remember having measles when I was right around Louis’ age. Sick children weren’t expected to go to the pediatrician. Back in the 50s, doctors made house calls. I remember when my doctor’s advice was for my mother to open all the windows in my room and put me in front of a fan. It was late Winter. My mom told him I would catch pneumonia. He told her that he could cure pneumonia, but not measles.

I wonder if there is such a disease as BRAVEpox?
