    When I was a kid we never had homework in the summer. I would’ve welcomed a reading assignment as long as I could choose the book.

    I’d have chosen “Catcher in the Rye.” Sorta already did, because I’d read it numerous times from 1978-79. I really could’ve played Holden Caulfield.

    we did not have summer assignments when I was growing up, but I read all summer by choice

    I never had a summer reading assignment, due to switching schools so much. I just had angry teachers who were baffled schools didn’t coordinate them and some didn’t assign them at all and they took it out on kids (not just me).

    I loved reading over summer. I just chose my own books.
