As tidal friction slows down the earth’s rotation, the moon’s orbital radius increases. And a few billion years from now, when the sun expands in diameter, the moon will leave orbit around the earth. Not that any of us will be around then.
Of course in that time some other star could pass so close to us as to possibly carry off the moon. Contracts do not mean anything to moon-nappers…
I remember an old Sunday strip, where Jimbo asked Pasquale if he’d paid the bills, and pointed out that their moon service was almost completely cut off. (Rose sent Jimbo to sleep in the basement for breaking the teasing budget.)

Was the Contract written in the Stars?

After watching our human shenanigans, the moon probably has regrets and is reviewing its contact and options.

Gravity, it’s not just a theory, it’s the LAW.

In a remake of “The Time Machine” humanity blows the moon apart.

You know, the moon is leaving us. It’s orbit gets a little bit further away with every year.
