Yep. It does seem the possibilities are infinite when you first drive because it seems you now can decide where to go and don’t have to wait to be picked up. Not be dependent on someone else. That is why older people have such trouble giving up driving when their eyes fail or other medical reasons. The loss of independence.
Every night after school I was allowed to take the car out for an hour. I was amazed how far from home I could get in that time, leaving time to return. I wonder if a kid could do that on our highways now. Traffic has greatly increased as we fill in all those “empty” spaces.
We used to drive up and down Main Street a few times, then over to Dedham or Templeton to see if any girls were driving up and down Main Street there. There was usually a quick stop at the bowling alley for a Coke, but mostly old people there.
Off topic….anyone know where the big, smiling, fluffy white dog went to? I haven’t seen his pic in the comments lately. I miss his wittiness and wisdom.

How far do you expect to get in maybe 30 minutes left?

This is Milborough. They’re only going to need 10 minutes to cruise the downtown.

Depending on city size, that could be a lot of adventure at 16.

You and Gorge can hand out in the mall where you can find lots of girls at. Just don’t get into anymore accidents.

In most States you can get a DL when you are 16, which made perfect sense to me at the time, but now just seems insane.
