Folks, Bill Amend has just jumped from Oct 1999 to June 2000. Obviously to avoid the holidays, and coincide with the start of summer vacation. (We went from Peter trying out for football to the girls arrival at start of summer break). This happens occasionally and takes me a few minutes to find the proper archived classic Sunday strip (in sequence). You can read all the weeks Bill skipped over in the archives.
The day before yesterday, my sister & I were finalizing our plans for yesterday (she was coming to my daughter’s graduation, then she & I were going to have lunch & visit our parents’ grave). She said that her weather app said that it was going to rain on Saturday; mine said that it was going to clear by 9:00am.
Check out the app from yr.no. It may not be quite as accurate as the one in the strip, but it will give you not only the weather/forecast for your city, but for the specific neighborhood you’re in.
Lately I check the weather map about every 2 hours. It changes that often. I also believe Cleveland, Ohio is in an eternal high pressure zone. Rain comes from the West, disappears, than reappears on the East. It happens often.
Horse hockey. As “accurate” as weather forecasts are their weather results would have been opposite of frame #2. Best case would have had only one of them correct. Weather Underground used to be the most accurate one going until they were bought out by The Weather Channel. Then they got to be as inaccurate as the rest.
Coincidentally, this week Windows 10 installed a weather forecast and indicator on the Task Bar. It’s neat, but can be distracting when I’m trying to concentrate.
A few years ago I was bicycling in Mount Rainier National Park, in the northwest corner where a road has washed out and the only way around is by bicycle. The only way to hike to the Carbon Glacier is to bicycle to the trailhead. I got towards the end of the road, and it was raining. As it got heavier I had to turn around, and it was bright and sun shining again. Going the other way were still families in shorts and short sleeve shirts. They had no idea what was ahead of them.
The technology may have improved but the forecasting is still terrible. In some areas the weather may be fairly predictable, but in my area the prediction is so inaccurate that I never bother to use it anymore, better to just look out the window.
I called my neighbor in Phoenix….It’s snowing in my backyard! It wasn’t snowing in hers fifty feet away. She came to my yard, and yes, it was snowing! Didn’t stick, but it snowed! Of course it is 113 out there today.
Our weather predictions are painfully easy any more: near-record to record heat, 0% of precipitation, winds 15-30mph. Although we did have a very few days where the wind stayed <10mph.
I have just returned from a forage into the wild and lawless land of the Big Nate Comment section. Nowhere else will you find a hive of such scummy, villainous scum and villainy. I have been scarred for the rest of my depression-shortened life. I have gathered enough strength to warn you, but now I perish … good bye

There should be a rainbow (depending on where the sun is).
Look for the rainbow.

A cool, (relatively), rain when it is 95º F or hotter can be rather refreshing.

Actually it’s the neighbor’s rotating water sprinkler, but don’t tell her that.

Had that happen in VA once. Raining in front yard, sunny in backyard. Weird.

I wonder what app they’re using, because mine don’t seem to be accurate at all.

I’ve seen it do that in Florida. Sunny and hot where I was, pouring down rain across the street.

They must live in Florida for that has really happened here. It was raining at our next neighbors house but not ours.

I’d laugh, but I’ve seen this happen. It once rained and only half my deck got wet, with a perfectly straight line down the middle.
