IMHO in times like these where a parent is suddenly stricken with something that lands them in the hospital that often the kids are the last to be told what’s going on. Big Mistake. I would try to discuss what is happening and tell the child as much as I could about the issue the parent is having within the age appropriate realm of their understanding. That way they’re not left up in the air about the facts of the situation. No need to leave them in the dark. Also a positive word now and then helps but the truth will go a long way.
Puppy dogs express their love for us constantly, but I do wish the tail hearts were a real life occurrence. I hate this having to wait to find out about John though; I do hope this arc is resolved quickly. . . And happily too, of course.

I just lost my wife of 34 years recently, suddenly and unexpectedly and I sure hope this story line is not headed down that road but it does happen :(
