This is the reference post for people who like to read about and discuss the history of Gasoline Alley. It will allow them to put their comments in replies. Those who don’t can bypass the discussion by leaving the replies closed. Fair for everyone, I think.
Summer issue of FIDDLER MAGAZINE contains two articles on Jim Scancarelli – my essay, “Jim Scancarelli: A Lifetime of Fiddling and Cartooning,” and Jim’s piece on his intriguing fiddles, “Head of the Class.” See: http://www.fiddle.com/ — Thanks! Lew
Oh no! Joel…. this is a very BAD idea!!!!!! I know and understand that you are used to trying to teach and help Rufus…. and that it would be fair and appropriate to expect a friend to try to help you back…. but…. truthfully…. Rufus will only make matters more difficult for you!
And, I do not see your pipe. I think it will be something that will help you more than Rufus as you work through this surprising situation. I am hoping your pipe and pouch are just in your coat pocket.
Also…. even though I rarely ever disagree with your words of wisdom or your actions as I do understand your profound knowledge, your good heart, and your hard working spirit…. I am not really of the belief that your action of tossing your jug out the window the other day was in your best interest. I can understand your initial worry…. but, I hope that you retrieved it and corked it back up in your abode for when you return.
So far this story makes me think of a story about Lucille Ball. It was the McCarthy Era, of course Lucy was married to a Cuban and that put her under suspicion of being a Communist. Well she came out with a wild story after some dental work that she was hearing voices if she touched the dental work just right she’d hear radio broadcasts from her teeth. That was her story and she was sticking to it.
True or not the story was screwy enough to deflect the accusations of McCarthy’s committee.
So is Joel hearing space aliens? Maybe he just needs a dentist. (^.^)
