Gradations of a foggy day.

Subtle portents of a foggy night.

Wallace reassures despite

His friend’s imaginary fears.

They’ll grow together through the years

Each the other’s best and truest friend.

[Yeah, pretty bad, but I couldn’t stop myself.

Even the obvious ripoff lines.

Because I’m in a mood.

Because, you know, we live in a society.]

I count five spirits…

Spud’s mother has a really weird way to protect her son from dangers.

Spud is a walking basket case. What HAS his parents been telling him?

Looks like one of the spirits ran into a tree. Must be because of the fog.

they are the ghouls that came from under your bed. Later they will keep you from trying new things.

Wallace has a doce of realty.

Maybe it’s his mother’s way of trying to counteract the sort of logic Wallace uses on Spud to get him to take part in these sort of activities in the first place—a sort of “fight fire with fire” mentality.
