I just hope for a new burst of output based on some other reward — either something to say or the joy of making people laugh or the joy of being good at what you do, etc.

I think they learned the trick to being famous: get out while you’re at the top of your game and don’t get sucked into believing your own hype. I really miss all those people too, but part of what makes me like them so much is that they have integrity . . enough to walk away from all the money when they think it’s the right thing to do. It’s too bad there aren’t more people like them around.

it still amazes me that all these movie stars and athletes , having amassed mlllions, still have this insatiable need to write books or pimp products in tv ads trying to generate even more bucksI mean, once you have your great and fabulous house (houses) and your fabulous cars and clothes and have financial security for the rest of their lives why this need for MORE?and then you have real geniuses like Breathed and Larsen and Watterson who gained their fame and fortune and disappeared

Correct me if I am wrong, but Binkley’s dad sure looks a lot like David Duchovney -

I’d have asked him why he didn’t move out on his own yet!
