Our neighbors were so bad at spying that we planted a thousand spruce trees in the field between us. Discomforting to step out and see sun glinting off those binos.
Many people have asked the same question about the kid, he even sleeps over. The father is never home much either. Makes me wonder what Sylvia is doing behind those closed blinds.
Houses in my neighborhood are being torn down (after being sold to a developer for$600k) and $1.5 million houses are being built and none of them have window coverings. The bedroom windows are usually high enough to provide some privacy but the front rooms are open, you can walk by at night and see what is on their computer screens.
My grandparents offered Hubby and me a lot on their farm when we got married, so we could build and live next door to them. Opal is my grandmother; we bought elsewhere.
“ His mom and her husband”.. so is Opal saying that the grandson is somebody else’s child? Was Sylvia widowed and remarried? This is mighty odd phrasing?
I almost fell off my chair laughing . . . my m-in-law, well, she showed up at our honeymoon hotel room door at EXACTLY the wrong microsecond moments after our marriage ceremony. . . she started banging on the door (insane, I know. . . WHY?), my new wife, I won’t say what she said. . . but “mom” refused to go, wanting one more hug and goodbye, finally, my WIFE got up went to the door and YANKED it open . . . MOM. . .she had one look, SCREAMED and ran down the hotel hallway. We celebrated our 50th Anniversary today. Thankyou!!

Sylvia is your daughter Opal. She knows you like to snoop. So closed blinds.

Even your adult daughter still needs her privacy, Opal.

The reason Dan is not in the comics often is probably because he is locationally challenged at times.

I agree, why do they keep their blinds closed all time?

Dan being away for long periods; kid always over Earl and Opal’s; shades pulled at opportune times; Opal has good reason for information gathering.

I can think of many reasons, Opal, but they all boil down to a desire for privacy.
