Who taught her the fear of bugs?

Well…. At least she didn’t try and eat it.

Some things seem more desireable when you want them then after you actually get them. I find this true many times. Marketing is a powerful thing.

They are neat, until you actually catch it.

A learn-able moment..

Grasshoppers spit brown saliva called tobacco juice to repel predators.

Its like when I started chasing girls scared the crap outta me when I finally caught one

Hilarious. My youngest is five, and she has a bug phobia.

I suppose somethings are exciting until you touch them, and realize they can touch you too.

I remember catching all sizes of grasshoppers when I was a kid, now I wouldn’t touch one with a 10’ pole.

Reminds me of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode where everyone thinks a butterfly is so beautiful until they see a close up of its face. The ensuing panic ends up destroying the whole town…

Some ‘hoppers’ are giant size here in Green Valley AZ.

It’s a good thing that wasn’t a wasp or something like an asp. Some furry asps look so cute…

Children must be taught to be gentle with all living beings from a very young age.

Oh, that was me with birds when I was little! I was always chasing birds- sometimes following them around with a salt shaker ’cause of the story that you can catch a bird by sprinkling salt on its tail.

So…when I was around 5 we went to Atlantic City and I started chasing the pigeons on the boardwalk. And I CAUGHT one! I screamed, threw it up in the air, and ran back to my parents! :-D
