Just waiting for the other boot to drop onto Iraq was horrible, knowing that Bush would believe anything Saddam said (such as, tons of WMDs, death to Israel, etc) despite the fact that he’d been there for a decade doing nothing like that. Watching an idiot deliberately edging us toward an idiotic invasion was bad enough, but wondering what country I was in (mostly, one that told him to go for it, with or without putting on a face of deep sadness), and wondering how my city and neighborhood (WTC) could be used to justify it, made me feel even more alienated than Huey.

I missed all the pre-war news coverage. My unit was already pre-staged somewhere in the Kuwaiti desert. We didn’t get CNN.
