I had a cat who was like that – if I was gone for a length of time she would wait for me in a specific spot ignoring everyone else, then when I got back she would hiss at me and bat my had with her paws until I actually touched her head then she would want to snuggle up with me while I scratched her ears.

Our cat was always happy to see us come home. She would do a little dance on the porch as we came from the car.
Then we discovered she would spend all day at the neighbour’s and would only arrive on the porch minutes before us. Fickle cat.
