It was with gags like this that Johnny Hart made it clear he had thrown the ‘prehistoric times/first humans’ concept out the window, and decided that he was just gonna go right ahead and do current day gags no matter what.
When some superstitious people build high rise hotels, they leave off the 13 floor. 13 is a bad luck number. We could also leave off all Friday the 13th. For the Chinese we will drop all dates that fall on the 4th. For the Japanese we will leave out the 9th of any date. We must be inclusive. So Italians are superstitious about Friday the 17th, that will need to go. The number 39 gets a bad rap in Afghanistan, but it’s already off the calendar we use. What about good luck numbers and dates? Do we add more of them? In one country the number would be lucky and in another unlucky.

If you think a little thing like leaving April 15th off the calendar is going to stop the IRS from demanding your money, think again.

And, for those who aren’t calendar savants, Nov 3rd was election day in 1964.

November 3rd 1964 when Johnson beat Goldwater. But would Hart have known who was running back in January?

Tax day should be the day before election day.
And they should stop withholding, so you know exactly how much the government’s grabbing from you.
