    That’s why you always take a loud whistle when you go for a hike. You can scream for an hour or so, but you can blow a whistle so long as you are brething.

    I don’t care what anyone says. Screaming for help when a bear comes calling is better than getting a bear hug.

    Since we have not SEEN the bear, I suspect there isn’t really a bear, but something else.

    But seriously, folks. Scream for help, especially if there is a bear. They don’t like the racket. We learned this from a ranger the next day AFTER huddling together silently all night with a bear in our camp.

    Never turn tail and run from a bear or cougar, they’ll think you’re prey and go after you! And yes, I’ve encountered both!
