One of my favourite books is a history of metallurgy, which would not normally be an engaging subject but the author’s passion just shone through every word. Very little in life is utterly boring if you have the right attitude to it.

I once went to a used book drop-off in a college town. Soooo many old textbooks!

We have a take one- leave one bookshelf in my building’s laundry room. I have found a few goodies there, but many people use it as a garbage dump for their old drecky books that nobody ever takes, and I can’t imagine who would even want to read some of them. I love the idea of these communal book shelves, but it is a tricky business! Still, good to have it!

You have to put halfway decent books in a free library – if it’s turned into a dumping ground for old schoolbooks and the like no one will use it.

I’m sure that unwanted books can be recycled for their paper.

But is there a copy of ‘Thirty Days in the Samarkind Desert with the Duchess of Kent’ by A. E. J. Eliott, O.B.E.?

Sounds like a real page-turner.

Our little free library not only has books, but it also has food for anyone to take.

It’s amazing how a $300 textbook looses almost all of its value in one semester.

Gee, I think that I might have that book. Maybe it’s time to start getting rid of my textbooks from the sixties and seventies….

LFLs are terrific in many communities, if monitored. I’ve gotten lots of fun reads. And donated lots, too.
