Since James is off for the holiday, we are going to do something together. I’ll have to see what he feels like doing.

I can understand that thought, Doc. I’ve still got some time with James yet,

Doc, I also have an older son and two older daughters, so I know how fast they grow up. You blink and the time is gone. I still know what my older kids are up to, though. I’ve always been open with them and they so the same with me. So far, it works.

I need to do an inventory on my garage today, too. I just don’t know when. It IS a holiday!

Good morning, tribe! I thought about adding grits to the menu, but I haven’t the foggiest idea about cooking them. Figured I’d just end up ruining them.

Doc - Since no one in either side of the family likes grits, I’ve never even seen them up close - just on someone else’s plate at a restaurant. My husband said it is like trying to eat mush with pebbles, so I was never interested in sampling them. Now with diverticulitis, I’m not supposed to eat seeds, nuts, kernel corn (ground is okay), or anything that doesn’t digest easily. Sounds like grits might be in that category. KS isn’t a southern state, but we do like bisuits & gravy, chicken fried steak, iced tea, & BBQ, so we eat some southern foods here, but grits ain’t one of them.

Good Morning Doc and a special positive thought for you getting the new position. Will this be a daytime position?

Doc - That gives me some hint how my hubby might have tasted grits. He went to school for a year in TX, and considering that none of their food was cooked properly, it would be logical that their grits weren’t good, either. I was always a commuter college student, so I didn’t eat college cafeteria food. Not too sure I’ve seen it on the menu anywhere in KS, either. It was a good thing that my hubby’s cafeteria food was so horrible. We met when he was in KS on spring break, and after our 1st date when he complained about the food (and his mother’s cookies), I sent him a care package filled with food I’d baked. Got his attention in a hurry!

I know what you mean about the yucky medicine. I’m taking an antibiotic that doesn’t taste so bad going down, but my morning breathe is really bad. There’s one antibiotic that tastes really nasty, so I was thrilled when I broke out in hives, because I can say I’m allergic to it, and they won’t prescribe it for me.

Hello Rmom–Schools are off, too.

Terry - Not ours. Since we start in July, we do a 4 day school week. We only take off holidays that my husband also gets off, or one of our kids’ birthdays. (Sometimes I take mine off, other years I don’t - depends on my plans.) If we took off every holiday that the post office takes off, we wouldn’t get enough school days in. (Here in KS we are required to have substantially the same # of days or hours as the public schools.) My oldest son’s college classes don’t start until tomorrow, but doesn’t have any Monday classes anyway. He had to go to the dentist today for his cleaning & exam, so not much of a holiday.

Rmom–Both of my daughter’s college schools are closed and my son’s junior high school is closed. Banks and post office is closed, too.

But you set your own days. You could go four or five days a week, right?

Terry - That’s one of the perks of homeschooling. Our state law gives us from July 1 to June 30 to get in our required school days, but we can pick whichever days out of those 365/366 we want to have school.

Hello All. Well it has been another absolutely beautiful sunny day here. It feels like April. I have had my bike ride and we are awaiting LG’s kids. Her son is moving to Alaska and he and his girlfriend and LG’s daughter will be here for a couple of days. I have made a tomatillo and poblano salsa verde. We will be having Shrimp and cotija enchiladas with salsa verde and crema Mexicana, homemade black beans and an orange and avocado salad. I can taste it already.

Hi Cleo and Tabby! I didn’t hear the cake and pudding call, I just finally got a chance to come back on here. Cleo, we could have had a feast with both our dinner menus combined. Tabby, I think whatever you are getting weather-wise, comes here the next day or so.

Yes Carmy. LG’s kids are both very helpful. Her son and daughter are both good cooks, both extremely adept at handling any situation and have gotten all the good traits of their mom and dad. They can be presented with most any situation and handle it like pros.

Her kids are so focused that I want to stay out of their way. Whatever their goal is they go for it, without any hesitation.

JFri, I kind of like flipping through the comics and seeing the comments at the same time, BUT since I have so many comics on my “page”, it is easier to see them all on the same page. I usually only comment on a few and just read the rest only. Hi Johnny!

Tabby, I rarely use the battery on my laptop. Even at chemo, I plug it in with the IV machine outlet.

carmy i can’t do that because of class, i seem to always sit where there is no plug in. i kind of like not having to be pluged in all the time also. it can move where i move. lol how is all of that chemo and stuff going? if you dont mind my asking

Hi Carmy I can’t use the battery with my laptop, the charger won’t charge the battery for some reason. Combine that with the fact that the lid is broken so the screen needs to be propped up and I have myself a lightweight desktop that is reasonably easy to move.

Tabby, I’m still on a chemo break. Waiting on some test results to see what’s next. Johnny, my laptop is a mini. It’s easy to move around also.
