Yes, I wasn’t supposed to be here to greet.

I just wrote a letter to GoComics asking them to consider deleting comments where people use technical terms (psychotic, psychological problems, mental illness, bipolar, depression, schizophrenic, etc) to insult others. I really don’t like seeing that, and mental illness is a recognized disability for some. So please flag those comments, if you don’t mind. (Also, please don’t make those comments because I really don’t want to flag people I like.)

I didn’t know CA_QUERCOS had lost his/her account. I don’t read all the comment sections, I know that one person at least makes worse comments on a comic I don’t comment on. If anyone sees a comment that needs multiple flaggers I am fine with checking out the comment section for myself (although we may just want to point out the comic title not the offender/s) I am mainly concerning myself with people who use the technical terms for mental illness because sometimes people don’t mean to offend when they use the other terms. BTW you might want to see C & H.

    Hello & Thank you Saucy1121

I am still planning on skipping over those people whose comments regularly offend me, because I want to enjoy the comments and not what was it someone said, “play mommy”.

Prejudice is a big deal to me though, so I don’t want to ignore it. Especially for the mental illness, because so many people seem to think it is okay. 90% of all successful suicides are committed by people with mental illness. I plan to slip in facts periodically to educate ( :

Doc T - Some days I only read short comments unless it is by someone I ‘know’ fairly well. And sometimes I only read comments by people I like. But if I wanted to go on a flagging parade all I would have to do is follow the comments of the people who are often offensive and see who they compliment. LOL!

This guy comes home from work one day to find his dog with the neighbor’s pet rabbit in his mouth. The rabbit is very dead and the guy panics. He thinks the neighbors are going to hate him forever, so he takes the dirty, chewed-up rabbit into the house, gives it a bath, blow-dries its fur, and puts the rabbit back into the cage at the neighbor’s house, hoping that they will think it died of natural causes.

A few days later, the neighbor is outside and asks the guy, “Did you hear that Fluffy died?”

The guy stumbles around and says, “Um.. no.. um.. what happened?”

The neighbor replies, “We just found him dead in his cage one day, but the weird thing is that the day after we buried him we went outside and someone had dug him up, gave him a bath and put him back into the cage. There must be some real sick people out there!”

No, we’re still here, Carmy. But they let us go a few weeks ago when there was a chemical leek here. The wind was blowing the right direction and they let us go right about my normmal quitting time. If I hadn’t taken that opportunity, my next chance to leave would have been when they signaled the “All Clear”, which was somewhere between 2 and 4 AM from what I was told.

    Tabby are you happy?

Hello Carmy and the troublemaker Dry. I actually have a hot tub story. When we first had the tub put in we were also rebuilding and enlarging our deck. The very first time we used it LilG’s son got in with a White Russian he had made. LilG wanted a photo of the two of them in the tub. I went to get the camera, he put his drink down on a little ledge meant for glasses. I began to focus, he went to put his arm around his mom and knocked the mixture into the tub just as I tripped the shutter. They both were laughing in the image. There should have been a camera on me. I had been the one to fill the tub and add the chemistry. LOL

@Shika, about NFs being inscrutable: it’s because the SPs are all into action and impulse, SJs into rules and getting things done, and NTs are into knowing things and being skillful. They can all understand the others, even if they have different goals themselves.

But NFs are into being meaningful and having a meaning in life. Which strikes the others as being pretty nebulous.

bunny yea I know, but that Catholic School training stays with you you know! The purpose is to give up something you really like as a sacrifice during Lent, or to go the extra mile so to speak, during Lent.”

    [sigh]

    [heavy sigh]

    [really heavy sigh]

I prefer not to start with something “to give up” but to go more with the sequence of Matthew 6: 1-18. We begin with giving alms: what can I offer from my gifts, especially giving myself, my personal gifts, to others with a claim on them? Next comes prayer: what do I want to offer God by way of attention and time so I may hear his call?

Only then comes fasting: what needs to be let go so I have room for these positive things? I find this is a much healthier way to go about it, and encourages us to continue after Easter comes. After all, why spend 6 weeks building up new habits and (we hope) improving our life, only to quit cold when the time we celebrate our new life with God comes along?

Sorry for the sermon–[sigh again]–and we wonder why there is so little effect in our lives.

Carmy, there was a time when the science fiction isle at the book store used to be fully stocked with them, with their own fully stocked shelf. But if you go to a Barnes & Noble now, you’ll be lucky to see the latest releases, which no longer include anything from the original series unles Shatner has written it.

Carmy, I dropped Playboy a few years into our relationship, when I determined it was no longer necessary for any reason at all. I married the love of my life. :-)

Carmy, no need to go to a used book store if I already own all there is to own in that particular area.

cleo, I don’t think you’re missing much. They’re starting to get rather skimpy on the playmate photos. I’m going to be thinking it over before I renew my subscription.

Carmy, perhaps I should also rephrase what I initially said: I own all that I want to own from what has already been published. There are really no new releases to collect.

Hardly. Sometimes the mind is a hard thing to turn off, like a light bulb. I need something to distract me from what’s on my mind.

Cleo, if your wife is like me, she’ll be falling asleep before the movie is over. Although sometimes I see the beginning and the end, I just snooze through the middle.
