Lewreader, you’ve managed to stir up some long-forgotten not-so-fond memories of my very first (and last) Big Mac some 35-40 years ago in the small burb Pierrefonds of home-town Montreal. I recall my sister and I hounding our mother to take us to that newly-arrived spectacle to “La Belle Province” with their English-only signs and the golden arches only to be reminded that there was food that was actually worse than Mom’s cooking.
Perhaps I ate the styrofoam or maybe I ate both. But chances are I made the mistake of actually eating just the burger. Talk about an episode of As the Stomach Turns! Surely it was nothing short of nausiating - and I am not known for having a weak stomach.
I should have gone with the Pt. St. Charles tube steaks at the local choke & puke.
F1: European Rednecks driving around in squiggly circles until they get so fatigued that they start crashing into each other; all the while consuming vast amounts of fuel and creating a literal wasteland of carbon waste in the process.
NASCAR’s easier to follow when you’re hammered.
Toon: “Circles”? Is Wink thinkin’ “multi-leveled marketing”?
GROG Thanks for ruining my breakfast. You will be happy to know because of the protests of us Deadheads proudly displaying our “McToxic” bumper stickers on our psychedelic buses breaking down following the band, McDonald’s agreed to end the Styrofoam on the Big Macs. They recalled millions of foam wrappers and burned them. Didn’t their Scoutmasters tell them never to burn Styrofoam?
Another morning arrives..this one a bit grey but Grog, Kab, Dig Frog, Sojo, Plods, Lady, Lew and others will brighten it up
SRmom We did get about 10 minutes of strong wind and rain…very flat line looking….and then continued rain and roll some thunder and sheet lightning for a couple of hours.
Good morning, Montana Lady. Lonewolf made a brief appearance yesterday, and a post on Citizen Dog this morning. Other than that, I haven’t seen him today.
Just popping in - busy day.
Hope&Joy - I’m glad you didn’t get anything really bad with the storms last night.
We’re still having a lot of wind, even today. But other than wind, we might have gotten a few small hail stones, but nothing that would have caused damage.
Our internet was out last evening, I was sure glad to see it was working when I got on this morning.
Thanks, yyyguy & Sojo! - It is sobering. My brother came home with a Purple Heart. He was picking up wounded and got shot. Flew himself to the hospital. He’s told us lots of stories, but to see the video from then really adds another dimension.
i only knew what we saw on the news, thankfully, i was too young (not to mention not being American) to need to worry about fighting in Vietnam. those vets have been short changed in the respect department for far too long.
hi Grog
i see some of the folks talking about thunderstorms and big winds. i left my apartment, yesterday, to see our annual April blizzard had arrived. haven’t looked out the window yet, but i hope it’s all melted away again.
My nephew, who is 3 years younger than I was a gunner on a medevac (I guess that is what it was called) helicopter in Nam. He was on that assignment for 1 month and then off a month as he tried to “cover” the guys who were getting the wounded on board. Not much fun.
Hope&Joy - It is still windy here, but mostly sunny.
I didn’t realize they had “gunners” on medevac helicopters, but I can understand why one would be needed. I was only in 3rd grade when my brother was in Vietnam, so I didn’t really understand at the time everything that was happening.
Well, I’ve got to get ready to leave for school. Bye!
It was a surprise to us to when I saw them on the news when the medics left the helicopter and the machine gun (it looked like a machine gun) operator could be seen.
Good Evening ♠Lonewolf♠ - I could get other sites but not this one. Once I got it I checked the master comment list and there were a couple of hours missing.
Thanks, Sojo! Considering this unit was over Excel, which I’ve used a lot in the past, I would have been really disappointed if I’d done poorly on it. We started learning Access tonight. We’re going to barely scrape the surface on that, so I’m not sure what I’ll learn that’s new to me.

For us here we stopped going to fast food. Far too much fat. Long John Silvers#1 KFC #2 of places I will never go to.
