Ah, I get it. Baldo really meant ‘can you make eggs for me?’. I haven’t heard the old ‘can you help me?’ bait-and-switch in a while.

Tia’s eggs taste better. But sorry to say, Baldo better learn to make them himself. I never learned how to make my gram’s fried steak and now it’s too late. (I do make her mac and cheese all the time, though!)

Carmen should have brought the plate of eggs over, and started eating them.

Obviously teaching the story of The Little Red Hen to the masses has fallen by the way side.

When my daughter was around 10 years old, I pulled a variation of this on her. She asked me to microwave some frozen item for her, and I replied, “Sure, just take it out of the freezer, ok?” Then I followed up with “Grab a plate . . . take the wrapper off . . . put it on the plate . . . can you just put it in the microwave . . . ?” The microwave was heating the food before she realized what I’d done.

Since June 2020 cooking eggs here starts with taking them out of the freezer and letting them defrost. We don’t eat breakfast and rarely eat eggs for dinner. So basically we use for them for cooking – normally at Thanksgiving in the fall and Passover in the spring. I hated throwing out most of the dozen eggs twice a year, read up and found that they could be frozen if opened and yolk mixed into albumin so we only had to buy once a year.

When husband was ordering food delivered from BJs, May 2020, he ordered 2 dozen eggs. Like most things he ordered from them they did not actually have them in stock and offered a 5 dozen package (restaurant packed) as a substitute – he took same. After using maybe half a dozen at most, I had to freeze the rest – individually and in twos. When we want to cook something which needs eggs I have to know in advance so I can take out what we need to defrost before using them. I think I am down to about 2 dozen left.
