My boy Rugby gets a treat after his final pre bed pee. The other night, 20 minutes after I had walked him, I see my wife giving him a treat. Rugby has officially gamed the system.
Ah, Roh-ver! Don’t hang your head! Red was just asking you for an excuse for milky bones! I leave my Lizzie in the main house for about a half hour each day while in my sewing room (am a quilter) and upon returning, she gets a treat for ‘being good’ during my absence;)
Milky bone warning! You have the right to remain adorable. Any treats you may eat use to be in the cupboard. You have the right to take out a drawer for a nice eating before you’re acetic, any questions?
When I tell my lab Newton it’s time to take a break in his room (he has his own bedroom), he goes to the doorway of the kitchen and waits and watches until he sees me open the cupboard for his treat. I guess he has trained me well.

Rover, oh so polite, using the proper way to ask for something. Politeness one will not hear today from human kids!

It’s not the “cuteness” of a wet dog but the smell to which I object!
