    Welcome, everybody!

We’re here to puzzle our way through

the August 17th  2019 “CLEO and COMPANY”

    and talk about it here.

You can find it on Sherpa, if you like…

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

Or give me a couple of minutes and I’ll post my side by side version….

It’s easier to see that way.

I’m having a teeny bit of trouble with my image hosting site….

but this usually clears up after a try or two….

    don’t go away…..

    OK….

I realised I said “Don’t go away…” when the only comments here as yet were left ten years ago….

What I should have said is “Everybody get over here!”

I don’t make these difficult, time-consuming side-by-sides just to waste if nobody shows up, you know.

Anyhow, as I expected…. PostImage sprang to life on about my fifth refresh…..

    so I present…..

    your puzzle, my way…..

    https://i.postimg.cc/R0sn9npJ/Cleo-nine-differences-Aug-17th-19.png

    Come solve it….

You don’t want Rocky to call you a loser.

Many thanks. I stopped by about 1:45 am EST looking for the side-by-side to help me find No. 9. I know we have seen this one previously, but I won’t know if NH has changed it or not. I make no effort to memorize them.

I believe Cleo and Claude fundamentally disagree about whether or not you can use a golf cart in those circumstances. Claude says “you can’t”, and Cleo then does, presenting him with a fait accompli.

Okay, it is 2:04 am now, and I just found the last one. That’s in the neighborhood of 25 – 30 minutes.

Now Rocky, above, is indeed problematic for the Van Amerongens, with whom he lives and rides in cars. Most Ballard Street dogs prank the neighbors, but Rocky is biting the proverbial hand. He may be gambling more than he can afford to lose.

Well…. I hate to mention this…. but, yes, we have done this one before….more than once.

And I. too, do it over… in fact, I make a new side-by-side…. because I never know whether it’s been changed or reworked.

This time, it appears to be the same…. and in the past, it has engendered, let’s not say “arguments…”

let’s say “discussion” … about which differences are separate.

    I count them all separately…. and I get 10.

Depending on how you count, you might see 8 or 9, instead.

I don’t know whether Nighthawks has ever settled the question.

Also… the top and bottom panels are joined by a speech balloon and a signature that overlap.

They’re impossible to separate cleanly, to make the side-by-side or a gif.

Minor differences in the top and bottom border or signature…. little bits missing, or present in the “wrong” panel, are NOT “Differences” for the purpose of solving this puzzle.

I have absolutely NO authority but… I have spoken.

Shortly, I will upload our semi-anonymous gifmaker’s gift gif, which she or he has generously given us…

It Can bi used to check your solution…. but it can’t verify the number of differences because it Stel depends on how you count.

Less than 10 minutes, and that’s the first time I did this one.

    All differences are legit IMO.

@Susan I hope my mails don’t bother you – but I use you as my notary. ;-)

Sigh…. I guess “shortly” turned into kinda longly…

    Sorry….

The fourth or fifth really hot day in a row…..

Can’t remember Monday’s temps…. but Tuesday was in the high 90’s, Wednesday and Thursday over 100°, and today “cooled off” to a high of “only” 93°.

Somehow, getting through it it wipes me out, and even though it’s cool now, I find myself dozing off when I think I’m commenting.

So…. I’ll post the gif now… and go to bed(!!)

What a concept…. sleeping while lying down!

Luckily, tomorrow is slated to cool down by about 10 degrees…. whew.

I’m just not the tropical type.

I hope I can trust you guys with this after I leave…. NO peeking till you solve the puzzle….

The semi-anonymous gifmaker didn’t do it so you could cheat.

Oh… I almost forgot…. just because you guys don’t have to do anything for it….

Don’t assume it’s that way for ME.

I  had to promise the gifmaker that I’d post this picture….

My goodness… the things I do for all of you.

Saturday “Mai Tai Offer A Solution?” Non Solution

       1.  Top panel: Headlight from ’57 Studebaker replaced with Thomas Edison’s rejected working model for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Bottom Panel: Headlights? We don’t need no steenking headlights!

       2.  Top: To save money, penny pinching cartoonist centers black hole on far left over drain pipe. Bottom: Black hole on far left is actual black hole stolen from prop room of The Black Hole, a 1979 movie featuring Maximillian Schell.

       3.  Top: Cheapskate C&C producers use discarded mini umbrella from deleted Munchkin’s “Singin’ in the Rain” scene from Wizard of Oz. Bottom: Mini umbrella is purplie.

       4.  Top: Cleo’s matching ensemble courtesy of Posh Puppy Boutique in Belchertown. Bottom: Cleo’s outfit from Purplize Your Puppy in Plainfield.

       5.  Top: Cleo’s Mai Tai made from scratch with finest ingredients available in Cleveland. Bottom: Mai Tai made from mix shoplifted from Ollie’s Bargain Outlet on Market Street in Cleveland.

6-9.  Highly technical. Only MontanaLady, who knows a thing or two about Claude’s (annoying) bathroom habits; Perkycat, who just thinks she’s a rebel; SusanSunshine, who stays up way late or gets up at the crack of 3 pm (or both); StillTheBelle, who actually knows how to get to Plainfield from Belchertown; and the mysterious katina.cooper, who should tell us about herself so I’ll have more to write about here in the infamous 6-9 section, would understand.

P.S. to @nighthawks – Did you see what I did with, “Mai Tai offer a solution”? Pretty clever, huh?

Hooray! I got all 9! And for some, strange reason, I remembered most of them. It’s a little early for a MaiTai, but, if it’s a MargaRita, I’d enjoy that any time.

ok, (he said grudgingly). there are ten. I used the wrong heading that originally said 9. I changed that to ten but

mistakingly ( I seem to be doing a lot of that these days) used the heading that said 9, not the corrected heading

    that says 10.
