I have a bald eagles nest not too far from me. The one thing I see them carrying more than fish is snakes. That or they are really good at catching lampreys!
About a year ago I saw a nature special where the female bald eagle had to do all the hunting and eaglet rearing. The male simply stood around and preened his feathers. About that time I bet the female was wishing bald eagles did not mate for life.
