From Previous Post during 4th of July elsewhere - Sat a plate with 2 Hot Dogs with the works down on a tv tray table while chatting with a neighbor. My dog at My Hot Dogs, 1 Bun & was checking out the condiments on the floor.

Couldn’t get mad - my fault for thinking she would not be tempted! Now I hide my plate in the microwave with the door closed so Miss Kitty & Biggie Dog don’t try to lick/eat my meal!

If you can pick it up and eat it within 5 seconds, surely after 2 minutes it belongs the the dog. Or the cat.

When you have pets you learn what you can leave laying around and what you can’t. When I defrost meat I always have to put it in the microwave with door closed so the cats can’t get to it. You can’t have breakables on shelves because they will jump up there and knock them over. You NEVER leave a plate of food unattended.

I have a friend who’s former dog ate just about everything in sight. Forget about about the meat pie sitting on the coffee table that he inhaled in one swallow.. This k9 would knaw anything - I mean ANYTHING that wasn’t nailed down. Shoes, eyeglasses and yes even lighters as just an example. No wonder he developed problems.

My dog knows when food is hers and when it’s not. I can set a plate of food on the coffee table with the dog laying nearby, go to the kitchen for a drink and dog does not touch that food. She also knows to stay out of the trash, and she stays out of the kitchen when I’m cooking. If you train your pet you don’t have those kinds of problems.

Funny story, Tigger. But I’m sure that didn’t stop him from pilfering food anywhere else it ws found - even after that lesson.
