Gail’s saying even Pierce, Johnson & Buchanan should rank higher than Trump. Lets hope her conclusion is way off… Pondering Presidents — Who Got ‘Polked’? By Gail Collins https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/07/opinion/trump-worst-presidents.html
If you don’t believe free will exists, next Monday morning try waiting until your programming or synaptic load or whatever compels you to get out of bed on its own. You will either (a) be waiting an awful long time, or (b) eventually think “screw it, I have to get dressed and go to work.” Either way, you will perceive it as an act of will. As Winslow says, “So what?”

Meant to give a shout out to Scott’s 26-Jun-21 toon.
As you may have noticed, I don’t check in here like I used to. But I did a slight recap over the weekend and saw at least one toon that pleased me.

You are free to stop voting for republicans, all they want to do is take your vote away anyway.

You’re getting close to the answer, but computer programs don’t have a three-panel-a-day format.

There are those who think that they were dealt a losing handThe cards were stacked against them they weren’t born in Lotus Land
All preordained, a prisoner in chains,
a victim of venomous fate
Kicked in the face, you can pray for a place,
in heaven’s unearthly estate
You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that’s clear, I will choose Freewill

You can argue the “free will/predestination” question just as well in a computer simulation. And you will come to just as many conclusions about it.

Free will is a hallucination shared by humans. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t exist; what matters is we think it exists.
