Coffee table. TV remote on left, BlueRay in the middle, Roku on the right. But, I’m notvso sure they don’t grow legs & wander off, when we’re not there to have an eye on ’em.
Smartphone with IR-port and an universal-remote app and I have every remote I need. I don’t even remember where the original remotes are for all the different appliances.
And it is very convenient in any pub, where I can turn down its TVs volume during commercial breaks to just conveniently audible before muting. That makes the noise way lower and the crowd less aggressive when the game goes on.
The TV remote will turn it on & off, change channels on the TV, and switch inputs.
The cable (well, fiber-optic now) remote will turn both the TV & the box on & off and change channels on either, but won’t change the input. Both will control the volume.
The Roku, VHS, and ßetamax remotes only work their own devices – which the TV & cable ones won’t.
I have tried several “universal” remotes; have yet to find one that actually is.
My wife always finds ours in a large cup on the coffee table within reach of both the recliner and the couch. I always find it on a coaster within reach of only the recliner, when I have a full glass in one hand and breakfast in the other.

Why is it, that TV remotes are wherever you are NOT looking?

I can see the 2 of them from where I am
The rest of the house is asleep and I dont plan to use them for hours
I half expect they will have moved on their own sometime time between now and when I need them
Tricky beasts

Is it still a TV if it’s being used as a computer monitor and you never watch TV shows?

When you remember that you forget things, do yourself a favor and leave them in a conspicuous place and the same place each time.
