That’s quite the unexpected confession. How do you continue to look so youthful?
I remember Sears catalogs in a positive light. And gravy – real pan gravy, not that canned crap – is outstanding as long as you don’t eat it “on Tuesdays.” Climate change is happening, Chuck, and it don’t care that you don’t believe in it. It will devour you the same as it devours everyone else.
The Sears and Wards catalogs were in a digital format and the warehouse was computer driven. They never got past punch cards or their online web running and lost market to Amazon.
Climate change is nothing new. It has been going on since day 1. We live on a dynamic changing living planet. History is not just since the day you were born. People die around 80 because they can’t handle any more change. You only get to ride this beautiful blue ball for a short time.
I like the old school sears catalog from when they first started. There used to be such a thing as canned real and the cheaper mock turtle soup. I can’t imagine working in a canning factory ripping turtles from their shells.
I am an early boomer (1951) and by the time boomers became adults the catalog was being phased out. It was originally intended for people out on the farm/small towns that did not have access to a Sears store, by the 70s there was a Sears in just about every town. It was the boomers who started Earth Day. It is not the boomers who are buying $60k pickups to carry a few bags of mulch every Spring.
Maybe I’m a Boomer because I thought being a Boomer had more to do with when you were born than what you like and believe in … (BTW I’m actually a little pre-Boomer, born in ’45 … and climate change is definitely real, and being exacerbated by human behavior. We can at least slow it down if not reverse it, but only if we … ALL humans on the WHOLE planet … act NOW.)

I remember looking thru the Sears catalog at all the stuff I never got. Although I did get a CPO Jacket

Well I’m a boomer and, IMHO, if you don’t believe in global warming you’re an idiot – regardless of your age!

Foul! Not a Boomer. More like a GenZero.

Boomers are broken-hearted about global warming….. Those not making a fortune off it, anyway ;-)

71-year old boomer here. Firm believer in climate change and its dangers. And for a few statistics by age groups…
Gallup poll 5/11/18 asking if you’re “worried a great deal/a fair amount”: 55+ 56% 35-54 62% 18-34 70%
CBS News poll 9/15/19 asking if you consider climate change “a serious problem”: 65+ 58% 45-64 61% 30-44 67% 18-29 70%
So: cheers, young’uns!! But do please note that there is a majority – bare, mayhap, but STILL a majority – that believes as do you.

Big news! The majority of us boomers believe that humanity is causing global warming.

Who says all boomers are global warming deniers?

Hey, I miss the Sears Christmas Edition. I’m no fan of gravy and I believe we have a self-inflicted climate problem.

How’d he get hold of a Sears catalog these days?

I worked at Sears as Christmas seasonal job. My job was sending out Catalog requests. Also did orders from catalogs. Awesome job.

not all boomers are like this. I know perfectly well we’re experiencing climate change. And I was born in 1953…don’t judge all of us by some of us….
