just over 6 years for me, I hope. Coworker has one of those countdown calendars on his desk next tomine, presently it reads 231 days 4 hours, 16 minutes. I can’t wait for him to go!
I had gotten my finances in order. But still debated on when to retire. Came into work the next day and was told we had to work Saturday and Sunday (after daily 10 hour shift). Next words out of my mouth was “I QUIT”. Next 2 weeks wasn’t countining days, it was counting hours. Luckily there was a holiday in the second week so I got paid for that too.

I retired at 52. I was in IT and got tired of re-inventing myself every 2-3 years. It paid extremely well, but it was intense.
