I met someone who found out he was running for mayor when the election board called him to congratulate him on winning. Turns out his party placed him on the ballot and didn’t tell him.
It’s not really a surprise. He’s known for quite a while that it was his destiny to take on that challenge.
He just doesn’t want to take on all that responsibility, thankless work and the complete loss of any expectation of privacy. He also knows that you can’t make everyone happy, but it’s incredibly easy to piss them all off.
