You gotta speak the language if you’re going to live here

Okay, head east until you smell pizza. Turn there and drive toward the pizza smell and it’s somewhere on that road. Look for some signs.

Interesting perspective. When I was a kid cars would stop for directions. I am geographically challenged. Sometimes though, I would get them right:-)

That’s a new take on the turn right at the green house and left at white fence right after the red fence.

No, no, no, it’s turn right at the green house, but, it’s left at the white fence around the house that used to be yellow, not at the white fence with the yellow house.

Makes as much sense as go five eights of a mile west, turn south for two & a quarter miles, take the second road on the left after the Swartz house then a right a tenth of a mile before where Cooper’s store was, and you’ll be there in ’bout 10 minutes.

Go down that street until you get to the last stop sign. Then turn right.

I like the fifth panel where Greg subtly illustrates the view from the “booster seat angle”.

If the driver is a parent fluent in kidspeak, they might find the park

It’s easier to go past the place where the theater used to be, take a left at the Johnson’s old house, ant it’s the third house before you pass the last house on the right.

“Go play”? Wow, mom. Trying to get rid of him when you could be enjoying him? Here is an idea: How about deigning to play WITH him?

Husband has started to panic if he does not have both his GPS units (plus telephone GPS) even to go places we have gone to for over 4 decades. I eschew using GPS – look up where going if a new place and then will know how to get there – maybe one or two turns need to write down info.

We have gone to a folk art festival in the Pennsylvania Dutch country together annually since 1974 (except this and last year) and before that he went with his parents since he was in junior high. Figure he should know how to get there?

Several years ago he realized he had left his GPS home (only had one then and pre-smart phone ownership). He panicked over getting from our hotel to the festival. I tried to calm him down (and yes, I always have paper maps with us, just in case – good to have in case the road is closed and GPS does not know). We take Rte 30 to Rte 222 north, Stay on Rte 222 until it becomes a local road. As we drive on the local road we will go through 2 traffic lights and there will be a backup at each light – he will swear at them. Before the first one is the Coliseum village strip mall on the left. After the second light on the right is the antiques store which used to be a tea room and on the left is the medical center which used to be a local inn. We will pass the airport and the airport diner on our right before coming to the road which forks off to (the town we were going to). The road goes between the university buildings in the town and at the end of the large building on the right (Neuman society in one of the small buildings on the left) there is a traffic light – the pizza place is across the street on the right and there will be a sign telling us to turn left for the festival. We turn left there. The fair grounds will be up ahead on the right and we need to park in the college paved lot on the left as our RV cannot deal with the dirt parking. He remained in a panic until we got there & then again going home until we got back to the hotel.
