Could be worse. Could be “It’s a Small World”.

That reminds me of the retail store where I work. One season (which now starts on Nov 1st, NOT the day after Thanksgiving, like it USED to) they played a whopping total of seven Christmas songs, FOUR of which were “LAST CHRISTMAS”! I did not know there were four versions: one was the traditional, one was Mariah Carey (screeching, not singing), one was George Michael, and the other was actually HIP-HOP!!! It got so bad that even the customers knew what the next song was going to be be and I was running around with my fingers stuck in my ears and I really didn’t care what anybody thought. Nothing makes you hate Christmas more than working in retail. People are their most meanest and nastiest. They’ll come in on Dec 20th and say “What do you mean I can’t (order it and) get it by Christmas?” Uh, people? Christmas has been the EXACT SAME DAY for hundreds of years! Stupidity on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine! OK, I’m done ranting now!

As an aging codger, I recommend a playlist alternating various versions of Let It Snow and Sleigh Ride.

When I was a child in St. Louis, there was a daily ice-cream truck which played that jingle through its roof-top speaker. Like Pavlov’s dog, I still drool whenever I hear that song now….
