When I was a little kid, several years before this strip originally ran, I was walking with some friends, tripped and cut my knee. The blood was running down my leg. One of my friends suggested I stop in to the nearby doctor’s office and ask for a band-aid. I did. The nurse cleaned the wound, put antiseptic and a band-aid on it. No one asked me for money. They didn’t even ask my name. Times have certainly changed.

Try the Spanish “padrastro”. It means “hangnail” and “stepfather”. No, really.
