I remember being on the AV squad back in school, operating these exact projectors. We thought we were so cool. I wonder when the last one was actually used in a school.
One of the best things I ever did was learn how to use that thing…got to be the “movie person” from elementary on…and it paid off in college, when all I had to do for one class was just show up when it was movie day…and all without making any changes with implements of destruction…lol
When I went to H.S., high tech was an overhead projector.
When I went back for my 50th reunion, the hallways looked the same (they are all tile), but the classrooms were updated. There were also signs in the stairwells reminding students to turn off cell phones in class. Those weren’t there 50 years ago.
A friend of mine would add gizmos to his car and drill into the dashboard. He would hit wires and stuff causing lots of problems. I told him he should look before drilling and he calls me FUSSY! LOL! Just to let you know today’s strip is not all that unreal!
In junior high, my science teacher was the person involved in A/V. He spent more time in other classrooms setting up projectors & the like than he did in our classroom. As I didn’t enjoy science to begin with, having no real instruction was a pain.
I actually got an award for being the best darn A-V aide in school. I prided myself that I could thread a 16-mm projector in less than 10 seconds. That was 50 years ago.
Through the back – all of the lens alignment stuff and focus stuff is in the front which are a bugger to fix if you hit them with the drill. More space in the back, and if you whack the power module those are replaceable.
