My ex-father-in-law drove a wedge between his other ex-son-in-law (let’s call him Dave) and Dave’s wife , his daughter, by asking that question every time they would visit one another. Three weeks after that divorce became final Dave’s mother passed away and he was left with a moderate fortune (7 figures) allowing him to go back to school and get training in a career he wanted, buy a house and live comfortably while getting set up in business. Meanwhile that daughter lost her job and had to move back home for about 5 years. It is so nice when karma and schadenfreude get together.
