Spud is going to be the star of a research gastroenterologist’s thesis!

In 1989, when Will Steger and five other explorers crossed Antarctica by skis and dogsled. It took them 220 days to cross 3700 miles. Between the frigid temperatures and the physical exertions, their caloric intake was extremely high, and one of the ways they fueled up was to eat butter. I still have a hard time imagining how hungry that crew must’ve been to eat stick after stick of butter. It’s been twenty years since I read his book and that bit has lasted way longer than most other things I read back then. Is it just me, or does this comic feel like a little bit like politics? Just a tiny bit?

Will, Do you have a style manual for your word clouds? As much as I like the facial and eye expressions I can sometimes hear the word clouds (eg Spud panel 3 Aug-10-2021)

I would like to think that the dragonfly next to Wallace is actually one of those tiny spy drones, giving the guys in their dreary robot-spy HQ a view of a sunny day by the shore.

I have heard of legit work on contraptions such as what Spud describes, but as far as has been publicly revealed (interpret that how you will), none have been successful or viable for actual use in the field as of yet.

They’re watching how much butter we consume? Uh oh…

Sometimes it’s a thoroughly satisfying snack. And then there’s this alchemical miracle.

The richness of today’s strip :

Toasted bread cubes, olive oil, sausage, celery, onion, apples, oysters, pecans, salt, sage, rosemary, thyme, chicken broth, and [yes] butter! *

You taste them all at once and yet you taste each separately. Just like the grand plentitude of detail in today’s art. Consume at leisure. Take small bites. Linger before you swallow. Savor. Don’t be rushed.

*There’s multiple reasons it’s called stuffing!

Based on the camera angle in the middle frames … it looks like the seagull is either wearing a micro drone or IS a drone masquerading as a seagull!

Not that much of a fan of butter. I like it sparingly.

It is true robot drones as small as a humming bird and flies well.

Blame robots fascination for Spud’s actions – the officials are helpless – nobody gets more than a robot the need for lubrication
