Hey Calvin. Remember when you were taking a bath and you splashed like crazy, getting everyone wet? You can do that in the pool too. Just saying.

Rule #1 of swimming lessons: Be in bed by 6:30.

I TOLD y’all this was a fun arc!

One year at scout camp we complained about the temperature of the water early in the morning. The next morning the counselors had chunks of ice floating in the pool. Well played

Are we at rock bottom yet, Calvin?!?

I had to be up by 6:20 so I could get some breakfast down an hour before I needed to be there to be the “coach” for the “all ages, any amount of skill” “racing” team. Yeah, I know, but my MOTHER was adamant… and up by then too, to fix breakfast and lunches for my dad and younger sibs, so I had to be done an hour before I was potentially in the water. Not that I actually did get in that often…

I hated swimming lessons. had them at that age. I avoid swimming to this day over it.

It will be a very tough morning.

When I was 12 I failed a swimming course. They didn’t even try to teach me, just kept telling me that I was doing everything wrong! (I’ll bet that they looked at me in the first class and said, “He’s going to fail!”)

To add insult to injury, they encouraged me to try the course again! I wish I’d said, “I’d have to be insane to go through this experience again, especially with ‘teachers’ like you!”

You’d think that Rosalyn would be just as upset as Calvin.

I think Calvin just set a new world’s record in the 6 year old high jump.

I called it yesterday! Rosalyn’s his swim coach. This will be….VERY INTERESTING! ;D

If she is also the lifeguard, Calvin is in trouble.

We had a river approx. the right distance across and the colour of strong tea. We walked about 1.5miles each way.

I was hoping to see Rosalyn in a bikini.

Never ever annoy your baby sitter

My mom signed me up for swimming lessons, but it was summer, so I didn’t freeze my buns off, and it was in Iceland, so the water was warm. (We get hot water straight out of the ground, and use it to heat our swimming pools, as well as our homes.)

Good point. Why is it always so cold when you have to learn anything in the pool?

I don’t recall officially being taught to swim, but my parents had me in the pool as a baby. I was a summer baby, and love the water… so now I live in the Outback sigh We’re going to Perth in November to see “Bat Out of Hell” the musical, and our hotel has a lovely pool, yay! November here is HOT. I can’t get used to being a winter baby now sigh

Sort of learned to swim in the farm pond. Stand around in the shallow end and the leaches would attach.

I loved swimming lessons.

I flunked swimming lessons twice. Couldn’t swim in a straight line. Couldn’t tread water. So I took up scuba diving

I remember early morning swims. Brrr.

I remember the amazing moment I learnt to FLOAT. I know, doesn’t sound that amazing, but prior to that moment, I was convinced that the water would swallow me up and drag me to the bottom …

I actually do not remember learning to swim. But it was in the summer so it was probably warm.

Don’t worry Calvin. I’m 75 and never learned how to swim and I lived a block from the Ocean.

Considering Calvin’s remarkable levitation skills, It’s a wonder Dad didn’t try harder to get him interested in Basketball…

If I was his mother, I would be afraid Rosalyn would drown him…
