A few years ago my son told me it was considered rude (or at least snarky) to end with a period in texts. I told him I would continue to do so because it’s so ingrained in me — he would just have to understand that for me, it’s grammar.

I always do that. And I spell everything out and correctly. Yeah, I’m old. And a former English teacher. LOL! (That’s the only abbreviation I use).

Punctuation is important. Consider: “Oh My God”, he ejaculated, vs. “Oh My God. He ejaculated”. I wonder how long this post will remain online? My apologies in advance, but making a point first requires getting people’s attention.
