There are crop failures in areas like Somalia where there’s no government at all. The primary reason for crop failures isn’t the kind of government that’s there, it’s the weather and the soil. Climate change causing droughts and wildfires is the primary cause which doesn’t jive with your attempt at turning a non-political issue that affects everyone, whatever their ideological bent, into a “gotcha” talking point.
@Same2Ubuddy: making irrelevant (and untrue) points again. The US won’t be able to grow wheat in the Midwest if the climate becomes the same as central Mexico – which is already starting to happen. We are seeing the water flow of the entire Colorado River Basin shifting, too, and if that goes, we lose a lot of the farmland of the West Coast.
When the land no longer grows crops, the government control or lack thereof is thus irrelevant.
Disgusting POS Rick Scott (fitting that he’s a Voldomort look-alike) is still peddling the BS that working to limit climate change would limit jobs. Developing and building things to enhance renewable energy, filter and limit emissions and clean up the damage that was already done would create jobs and continue to sustain those jobs in the future. Much of his wealth was acquired by stealing from Medicare as a CEO; his company was fined but he got away with his golden parachute. Raise the highest tax rates, eliminate the capital gains loophole and raise the interest rates. Per ProPublica, many of the wealthy are skirting paying any taxes because they get paid in stock or other non-cash options and then they borrow against that.
I’m going to be forced to eat the fruit cake at the bottom of the freezer. It was a Christmas gift years ago from a friend who made it from scratch using a 100 year old handwritten family cookbook. I won’t starve, but the fruit cake might kill me.
It’s not just Global warming from CO2, it’s pretty much everything humans do without considering the long term effect.
Since Global Govt, business, industry or anyone else seems to be doing not much of anything to mitigate land, sea or air pollution on a scale large enough to make a significant difference….
My guess is we are at the tipping point, if we are not passed it already.

Crop failures happen a lot in places like the Soviet Union, China, and North Korea. These are places where the government controls everything.

Mass migration has already happened in several places – look at Syria for example.

I know people who moved from Texas to Washington state to get away from the heat. The heat followed.

Why do we respond to inanities?

The tipping point happened about 1940. Humans just can’t grasp the stately timescale of Earth responding.

This is surprisingly (to me, anyway) progressive and thoughtful of Mr. Ariail. And terrifyingly accurate to boot.

In several parts of the world we’ve already passed the Famine level.

The tipping point has passed given human nature and the ineffectiveness of governments.

A moderately good cartoon that’s hurt by the fact that the mentioned ills aren’t actually sequential as the temperature rises.
