Battle field reenactments are so odd. What possesses men, mostly, to spend money on acting out the worst aspects of human behavior? Why no Ted Bundy reenactors or Vietnam war atrocity reenactors?

How long until the Taliban are setting up tours for vets from America’s longest war?

I took a tour of Gettysburg with the family when I was 11. It was very educational. I liked the Devil’s Hole among the massive rock formations. My dad told us there were many soldier’s ghosts around. He bought me a Yankee hat, us being from up North.

Gettysburg has the added attraction of being only about an hour from Hershey for chocolate lovers.

Roger that. I’m sick of the Third Semiannual Covid Pandemic Reenactment. The costume itches.

    FAVORITE EARLY MOMENT

Assuming B.D> has never let Mike live it down.

Mike got lost on the back trails at Walden and B.D.called in a helicopter rescue teamto get him(“I’d like to report a missing turkey”).

They spotted Mike from the air by his pink hush puppies.

Several times I have been asked by Nam buddies, “Hey, we’re going back to The Nam as tourists! Wanna come?”

I always respond, “No thanks, I never left.”

Yet there is a curiosity to find places I’ve been to see if they are as I recall. A silly excuse for the cost of a ticket.

For an extra $1000, they’ll shoot down your helicopter.

The Southern branch of the “Sons of the Vietnam War” are very disappointed about no reenactments

They didn’t have Agent Orange at Gettysburg. And only soldiers were massacred.

But, they do charge tourists an arm and leg to fire the leftover Machine Guns & AK-47s on a target range.

The Guns are chained in place so they can only be aimed at the Targets, like a carnival shooting gallery.

That’s why I’m a pacifist, who doesn’t believe in all the power given to the military…who are already half insane before they even enlist, not to mention the WASTE of taxpayer revenue in the Trillions of dollars. Use those funds for something productive—not a 20 year war in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran. WHAT A SHAME!! It’s Vietnam all over again, which was another wasted 10 years + 58,000 lives lost…just to put a giant black obelisk sculpture with their names engraved, sitting on the national mall in Washington, DC. I totally despise war and the warmonger crowd! That’s my op-ed for the day.
