Politics itself is merely deciding who will govern. Governing is essential to any society’s survival, let alone thriving. As long as there are people grouped together, there will be governance, and it will always be flawed. Nevertheless, politics is important because if people don’t choose their representation, it will be forced upon them. It’s important because there are those who only want to benefit the rich and powerful, and if people don’t get involved to oppose them (ie., get involved in politics) then we will continue to have .1% of the population controlling 90% of the wealth and power.
Seems like everyone here keeps getting it wrong. It says that fear destroys love. Therefore people who throwing their political beliefs around are destroying the love of those closest to them. Politics are destroying families.
People need to learn to quit blindly following either party and learn to think for themselves. I never cared for Trump. Didn’t like Hillary. Feel sorry for absent minded Joe.
As we so vividly see now, we need to remember to elect presidents based on their ability to lead the military in a time of crisis. Regan and Eisenhower come to mind.
I would love to see some good candidates come forward but they won’t run (smart people!) NC Mark Robinson, DeSantis, Sheriff Grady Judd of Polk County Florida, Candace Owens. Favorite is Sheriff Grady Judd.
When one party becomes totally politicized about everything we run into problems when things that go beyond politics are now political like medicine, hunger, climate a etc…
The faceless corporations who control the money, (always looking for a higher profit margins) without social responsibilities (research, development and nurturing their employees) are treated legally as “persons". Certainly need to be mentioned in this conversation.

I think in modern times that is mislabeled. Fire is the symbol of power, not fear. So that wall painting means politics is the love of power.

I keep saying, if I could quantify two emotions: fear and greed, I’d rule the world.

Don’t forget hate. Fear and hate are powerful motivators and many politicians are amenable to using those two!

Politics. From the latin, “poli” (many) and “tics” (blood-sucking insects).
