True story: My mother and I were once watching a political convention (not something she usually paid any attention to) when somebody nominated Endicott Peabody for governor of Massachusetts. The person said something like, “I nominate the Honorable Endicott ‘Chub’ Peabody.” My mother instantly decided Peabody was her choice because she now knew he was honorable.

There are lots of enigmas in N.E. I know some of them first-hand.
But, what’s so “cryptic” about that graffito? It’s plain as day, it seems to me….
