If you need to focus on the job you’re trying to do, start thinking about something else you need to do, like mowing the lawn or cleaning the garage, and then concentrate on doing what you’re doing to get out of doing what you’re thinking about doing. Works for me.
That “Wait, what?” “Huh?” jiggled a funny memory. In my early days in “Computer Services”, one of the Programmers was from Thailand. Her English had been improving greatly and she kind of took exception to the term “Huh?” when one of the other Programmers used it, so she would say “Excuse me?” when he said “Huh?” It got to the point where they would be “Huh?”ing and “Excuse me?”ing over and over and over… You’d think it would get tiresome, but I thought it was hilarious, no matter how long it went on… ☺
