    @Number Three Today’s strip IS funny our hero Mr Andrew Capp feeling virtuous because the ale he’s drinking was brewed by Monks is priceless , but as far as I know monks produce a liquer Benedictine :o) my avatar is a spoof of a kid supposed to be a prodigy pushing a door marked pull :o) how was your day? our Thursday should be busy as usual but we should cope I hope, we both are in a good mood baring my discomfort, no shopping to do or errands to run just staying the house in rooms with A/C or huge fans drinking lots of chilled bottled water to keep hydrated and wait till this evening when the greengrocer van comes up our street, keep and thanks for caring young Lady

    A lot of those monks could brew a mean ale, some went further and brewed a mean Benedictine!

    Andy is hop ping to the “good” brew that was fermented by men who are barley in this world and all the ales people in the here and now. These “beermasters” spend all their spare time praying for a better spirit to be in their lives. One that will make them stout men in the brewery. And not bitter about their work.

    Leave it to Andy to Monky things up. I missed a big opportunity when I brewed my own ales to declare a religious tax exemption. That goes for the delicious Abbaye de Tamie I’ve made. Who wants to cut the cheese?

    The monks of Europe gave us good ale and lager. If it had not been for them, we would only have the sludge that was called ‘beer’. But Andy needs to practice G.K. Chesterton’s maxim: we should thank God for beer by not drinking too much of it (at any one time). Of course, Andy would quibble about what constitutes ‘too much’! Cheers, everyone!

    If the monks find out, they’ll switch to making fudge.

    Are the Monks allowed to drink their own ale?

    Been told a few times that beer was developed to cover the taste of sometimes icky medieval water.

    Andy must have had a big win on the nags to afford that Monk beer.

    Wish they’d stop referring to ale. That particular brew brings the best memories from when I did drink.

    @Afficionado

    Oh, I have many times screwed up with the Push/Pull things on doors. Once I struggled with the door of a small cafe near the bingo and I was so embarrassed but disguised that by laughing it off.

    Hpw often do you do these errands? If you didn’t need to do any today, I would guess a few times a week.

    I haven’t been out today because the weather was miserable and cloudy. If it’s bright and sunny tomorrow, I shall get my derriéré out. Out of the house I mean.

    Stay safe, stay well, stay cool and stay happy, pal.

    Old seminarian joke was that the two good things about the Trappists were that: 1) They knew how to keep their mouths shut, and 2) They knew how to brew great beer.
