Changing classes in an east coast Canadian high school, walking past the drafting classroom on our way to algebra. Needless to say, very little algebra was learned that day.
i seem to recall that the teacher turned the tv on and we all sat around uncomprehendingly watching tv instead of doing what we usually did in grade school…
I was orbiting the earth when it happened. When I parachuted into the ocean, who did I see but James Bond and some lovely lass in a boat. They hadn’t heard, so I told them. What a nice guy he is, btw.
St James 5th grade. The Principal came in to the class and told us what happened. She did not try to cushion the news at all. That’s how nuns were in those days. No nunsense. No grief counseling. “Children, the President has been assassinated. Let us pray and you are dismissed for the day.”
Taking my seat in the lecture hall for Psych 1A lecture (UCLA, 100 Moore Hall. I hated that room: hot, crowded and uncomfortable seats). Didn’t believe it at first. Sometime later it was an an old high school friend who first mentioned what we all felt inside: “Everybody past age 10 or so will remember exactly what they were doing upon hearing the news of JFK’s assassination .” Same held true for me upon hearing of other great disasters: King, Bobby Kennedy, Challenger disaster, 9/11. My mom said the same about Pearl Harbor and when FDR died.
Story completely bogus. JFK was shot at 10:30 California time so I doubt they would even be up at that time much less having a pool party and I would imagine since it was November a bit chilly.
Living in Saudi Arabia at the time. Middle of the night. No TV, but people listening to the Voice of America over shortwave heard the news and started passing it on to the rest of the American company town via phone. I was woken up by the static of our big shortwave radio and parents coming into my bedroom to borrow my own portable shortwave. I cried myself back to sleep.

I don’t remember where I was exactly, but I do remember listening to the news on the radio and trying to make sense of it. I was six.

Didn’t think Beatty was working already in 63… I’m old…
We all sat stunned in the classroom as the stunned teacher turned on TV coverage of the stunned anchors. It’s a dark memory every November 22.

I think her dementia is kicking in. Next she will tell you the moon landing was fake because James Bond told her and only a few people know the truth.

I’m old, and was in High School. If she’s not fibbing she’s had a lot of work done, and a dye job.

I don’t know why I wasn’t in school, but we were in downtown Zanesville; my mom stopped to buy a Extra of the Times Recorder from a guy on a corner.
