In 2009 republicans opposed to the ACA legislation falsely claimed that it would create a “Death Panel” of bureaucrats who would carry out triage, i.e. decide whether Americans—such as elderly people, or children with Down syndrome—were “worthy of medical care”.
The COVID pandemic and the poor response in some states to this latest surge is making that come true.
From three days ago “A COVID Surge Is Overwhelming U.S. Hospitals, Raising Fears Of Rationed Care”
Yesterday " Idaho public health leaders announced Tuesday that they activated “crisis standards of care” allowing health care rationing for the state’s northern hospitals because there are more coronavirus patients than the institutions can handle. "
250,000 kids so far testing positive countrywide. Abbot wants more kids born with no healthcare so he can up that number!! In the meantime Graham wants to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan, while trying to establish the Republican Taliban here!!
Well…you’ve convinced me. I’m now a born-again leftist disease paranoid. Only 7.95 billion to go. This cartoon crusade is a powerful engine of change and justice!!!
OK, we know about Covid, and what to do to protect ourselves and others, and we have ample evidence that health care services worldwide are not capable of meeting pandemic level surges in demand. Let’s work on improving health system response capacity, shall we? Before the next pandemic, please, and get on with our lives. It has always been the case that if we are alive, we are dying, and microbes are waiting in the wings to cull our herd; despite our fervent belief that if we are just careful enough, we will live forever, we will not; at least not in this flesh.
I’ve got an idea Mr. Death, why don’t you take out Abbott, Desantis, and, while you’re at it, add in that doofuss Dan Patrick too? You’d be doing the planet a great favor!
And another time Death took out an entire continent of indigenous people with plague. And once it tried for the three crowns prize with a flu over the whole world.
It occurs to me the OTH scribes must be ultra liberals. Never any sarcasm aimed at the current murderer in the White House or any of the leftist socialists taking up space in Congress. Goes along with the ultra-liberal media madness of the past 6 years.

I love OTH but there is no humor in politics. The writers are using the strip to point out their views and they aren’t the only ones

“No one likes a braggy-pants”—Well, then, good thing the first panel establishes that Death isn’t wearing pants, right?
